Chapter VIII ViewPoint

In Chapter VIII, Winston enters O"Brien's house to meet him and talk to him. O"Brien says he's against the Party and he's disbelieves the principles of Ingsoc. In my opinion I do not believe that O'Brien against the party. I believe that O"Brien is making Winston comfortable by making him think that O"Brien is actually against the Party. He's manipulating Winston to believe in the Brotherhood by telling him there is no list or members in it. It's just and organization. O"Brien is making Winston and Julia comfortable by telling them that he's against the party and he's for Goldstein. When O"Brien asked Winston a number of question's that sounded like more of a dare rather than a question, Winston replied yes to all of them except the last one. He would do almost anything for the destruction and decline of Big Brother as well as The Party's method's. He answers all of O"Brien's questions "yes" as if he's going to sell himself to do anything to rid the existence of the party. He is so into the idea that he wants to destroy Big Brother and the Party that he would put sulphuric acid in a child's face.He would even lose his identity as well as his appearance to get rid of the Party. I believe that O"Brien is making Winston and Julia comfortable enough to trust him and later when he has enough information he will strike both of them.
